  • Points are good Bass attractors. But most fishermen also overlook this type of structure. They offer shallower water and access to deep water. Just pull up on one side and make a few casts over the point and work the lure back to you. Then move to the end of the point and work the lure down the point. And if you have had any luck at all move to the other side of the point and work the lure back across the point. Just run down the bank with the trolling motor on high and casting into the shallows. Insteadof the usuall crankbait ot spinnerbait use something different, such as a jig. If everyone fishes a bank the same way the Bass get tired of seeing the same lures. Thus give them a presentation and lure that they don't see like this very often. During the warmer months opt for fishing at night, under black lights. At this time the surface water cools and Bass move up and into a more aggressive mood. With the change in water temp. even if slightly it can cause the Bass to feed. Ramps are usually one of the most overlooked sanctuaries for Bass. Most people launch thier boats and head out to thier favorite bank or cove. Ramps are almost always either made of or supported by rock riprap. This type of structure provides excellent cover for Bass. Fish can even be caught while boats are being loaded and unloaded. It is almost as if they get used to the traffic in the area. So next time you unload your boat try a cast or two around the ramp.
